Economic Growth
Although citizens continue to flock to
Collin County, businesses steadfastly refuse to bring more major
headquarters here. We can encourage business growth in the region while
maintaining our green spaces, by working together among the cities of
Collin County. We can join the individual Master Plans that our cities
have to create a development plan for our entire county. Only then will
our area experience the growth it needs and still be able to maintain a
clean and diverse community.
Economic Development translates simply to
more better paying jobs within Collin County. It’s key to keeping county
citizens from spending money in Dallas or Denton. We need to encourage
growth by planning together as a region. Technology corridors that span
multiple cities have to be planned as a group, not allowed to
haphazardly fall together.
Only when we show that we can effectively plan for the future of our
county as a whole will businesses begin to believe in the future of
Collin County as much as we do.
I would increase the partnerships that the
county has with municipal, state, and federal entities. We have been
told by the state legislature that TxDOT is broke. Yet over half of the
gas tax we pay in Texas isn’t going to its intended recipient – TxDOT.
We have to go to Austin as a whole and bring back transportation funds
where they belong. Only then will we begin to see a change in the
ever-tightening transportation funding cycle.

"Strike the nail aright boys, hit it on the head! Strike with all your might boys, while the iron's red.
When there's work to do boys, do it with a will -- those who reach the top boys, first must climb the hill.
Standing at the foot boys, Gazing at the sky. How can you get up boys, If you never try.
Though you stumble oft boys, never be downcast. Try and try again boys -- you'll succeed at last."
