Q. What does a County Commissioner Do?
A. In many
U.S. states, the legislative and executive decision-making
bodies of
counties are called the
board of commissioners or county commission.
The County Judge and the four County
Commissioners manage the County's budget and administer the
Sheriff's Department, County Jail system, and the County and State
Courts for Collin County.
Q. Am I in Precinct 3?
A. County Commissioner Precinct 3
covers the northern half of Collin County. It's the largest precinct
by far - we have 325,000 people out of the 725,000 citizens in the
County. My district is the area highlighted in yellow below:

Q. What experience
do you feel best qualifies you to be a Collin County Commissioner?
A. I have the
vision and drive to bring our communities together and plan for the
future. My work at Tarrant County was to bring the IT departments of
different sections of the County together for vital projects. I am
dedicated to our schools, having taught as an Adjunct Professor, and
have worked with all levels of education in McKinney.
My goal
is to be inclusive – to bring citizens, business, and municipal
government to the table. I will succeed because I am able to find
the key needs and problems that groups face, then find ways to fit
that group into a project.
Q. What experience and/or skills do you
have that would assist you in getting things done in a
Republican-controlled Commissioners’ Court?
A. We’ve got
to remember that our County Government is already fractured by
politics within the Republican Party. The current commissioners have
fought together against Keith Self on the Bond program, and continue
to fight one another over issues such as the Teen Court
representative’s personal life.
I am
experienced at bringing together people of contradicting viewpoints
to create a resolution that works for all concerned. I find the most
powerful motivation of people involved in each side, and create a
space where we can work towards the best solution together. This
keeps us away from a “what’s in it for me” mentality and on track
with a “how can we solve this” environment.
